Sorry for your friends. If it helps, I've been on both sides of the layoff sweepstakes and still having a job is - by far - harder. At least not having a job gives you options.
 

That's bull. It's always better to be employed than to be unemployed, especially during times like these. Don't fall for the "Layoff Survivor Syndrome."
